Bright, Citrus and Zippy
I love Riesling. It use to be the hidden passion of those in the wine trade but thankfully, the rest of the drinking population is coming on board to how great a grape it can be. The plan for this wine was just to make the classic Australian style of Riesling- dry and citrus driven- but use of native fermentation has created more depth and interest to the texture of the wine. Safe to say, we are pretty happy with the results.
REGION: Grampians, Victoria
VINEYARD: Aradale Vineyard
GROWING SEASON: The theme of the 2022 season was cool and wet. This weather created challenges in flowerset which resulted in lower yields than the 2021 vintage. However, these cooler conditions resulted in great flavour development at lower sugar levels.
ALCOHOL: 12% - 7.1 standard drinks
WINEMAKING: Destemmed fruit, direct to the press. Cool, slow, native ferment in stainless steel tanks. Left on fine lees for 3 months.
FOOD MATCH: Seafood always come to mind, done simply such as fresh prawns. Also is killer with the full spectrum of Asian cuisine.
