2022 Party Red

Your new go-to wine for parties!

Party Red is the new version of last year's Grenache. We were keen to make another straight Grenache as last years one was so well received but nature had a different plan.  Unfortunately the vineyard produced a much smaller yield to last year so we ended up with much less fruit than planned. Instead, we topped it up with some early picked Shiraz which has worked incredibly well, producing a wine of similar style. Think bright, medium weight, the perfect allrounder or, as the name suggests, a bottle to bring to a party. 

REGION: Grampians, Victoria

VINEYARD: Arawatta Vineyard + Aradale Vineyard

VINTAGE: 2022

VARIETAL: Grenache 50% + Shiraz 50%

GROWING SEASON: The theme of the 2022 season was cool and wet. This weather created challenges in flowerset which resulted in lower yields than the 2021 vintage. However, these cooler conditions resulted in great flavour development at lower sugar levels. 

WINEMAKING: Destemmed Grenache was foot stomped in a fermenting vat before the destemmed shiraz was poured on top 3 days later. After getting another foot stomp, a native ferment kicked off and it made its way to the finish with a couple of punchdowns a day. Gentle press with the wine then spending a couple of months in old French oak. 

ALCOHOL: 13% - 7.7 standard drinks

FOOD MATCH: The middle bodied profile of the wine makes it a very versatile food match. Think Tempura, braised chicken or even an Indian curry.
