Dry, Textural and Floral
I've always liked rosé. Perhaps it due to my indecisive nature and provides an answer to the question of whether to open a white or red. I was always going to make one and this year we have. Dry, textural and floral, just like the ones I like to drink.
REGION: Grampians, Victoria
VINEYARD: Hard Hill Road Vineyard
AGRICULTURE: Sustainable
VINTAGE: 2021
VARIETAL: Mainly Shiraz but a smiggen of Nebbiolo
GROWING SEASON: After a couple of challenging low yielding years, the 2021 growing season really turned it on. Good winter rains followed by a stable flowering period drastically improved the yields in the vineyard. It was a cooler summer that allowed maximum flavour development.
WINEMAKING: Picked mid March, 100% destemmed fruit that went pretty quickly to the press to keep the pale colour. Part of the juice was femented in old barrel with the other half in stainless steel tanks.
ALCOHOL: 13.5%
FOOD MATCH: Everything and anything. Real versatile wine here that doesn't even need food if you don't feel like it.
